School Assignments
Welcome to the School Assignment application. All Undergraduate/Undeclared first-year students who have been a part of the U/U program since Fall Quarter are required to complete the School Assignment application by 3:00pm on Friday of Week 3 (April 19).
- Gather information in order to decide into which school (academic unit) you wish to be assigned.
- Complete the forms needed for assignment to an academic school at UCI.
- You transition out of Undergraduate/Undeclared and will begin working with advisors in the school you have chosen. You are NOT declaring a major.
- The policies you'll need to follow change (e.g., add, drop, change deadlines, academic probation/disqualification action, dean's signatures, etc.) to those of the school you have been assigned.
- Enrollment into "restricted to majors only" courses is not guaranteed, nor does this grant a greater likelihood of being accepted into a major within that school compared to other students outside of the school.
School Assignment is a one-time process, and it is important to note that once you are assigned to a school, you will remain "Unaffiliated" within that school until you declare a major. Keep in mind that even after you are assigned to a school, you can still change into a major outside of that school.
Before submitting your application, watch a presentation about the school you are interested in to make sure you understand the school's requirements. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of the information in the presentation by passing a quiz before you can be assigned to the school. Once you watch the presentation, click on the button below to log in and start the School Assignment application process.
