The Teaching Learning & Technology Center is happy to videotape a 50 minute segment of your class, provided the videotape will be used in a consultation with a TLTC consultant1. This service is free and all consultations are confidential.
A videographer will come to your classroom approximately 10 minutes before the class begins so that
s/he can set up the camera and microphone. During the videotaping, in addition to videotaping you, s/he will also pan the room, and focus on any visual aids you might be using.
The videographer will convert the tape to a DVD and
bring it to the TLTC for review. Then a consultant will set up an appointment with you to discuss the
recording. (The DVD will be given to you after the consultation.)
If you would like to be videotaped for a midterm review, we will
videotape between weeks three through seven2. We strongly suggest that you also have your students complete the on-line Midterm Evaluation found on the EEE website at http://eee.uci.edu/help/eval/. The more information we have, the better we can serve you.
Once we receive your completed form, we will contact you to schedule a consultation and to confirm the date and time of your videotaping.
(You don’t have to have your course videotaped to have a consultation; however it is helpful to the consultant to see you “in action,” your students’ responses, and the classroom.)
1Requests for videotaping that do not include a consultation need to be directed to Barbara Valencia (bvalenci@uci.edu). Recharges might apply.
2If you are not hoping to have your feedback before the end of the quarter, we will videotape any week.
